Happy Valentine’s Day

Happy Valentine’s Day Everyone!

Friday was Valentine’s Day, so we began our conversation with an overview of the holiday, talked about our plans for celebrating the day and what the day means to us. Image result for valentine's day

Then we moved on to a review of idioms that use body parts, for example, “I always get butterflies in my stomach when I have to speak in public.” Butterflies in my stomach means to get very nervous. Some others are ” a heart of gold” and “a shoulder to cry on”. We looked at some sets on body part idioms – ears, eyes, feet, finger, hand, head, heel and neck, and nose. To get the lists of these body part idioms just click here.

Next we focused on the idiom “head over heels” which means to be madly in love with someone. We watched this trailer to a film Head Over Heels:

After watching we tried to figure our what the film might be about and what is the relationship between the husband and wife. And why are they living on opposite sides of the house?

Take a look at the film here:

We talked about the relationship between the husband and wife, and what their living arrangement meant. We also talked about how they each tried to solve their differences. We agreed that the messages were that no relationship is perfect, and we should try to accept one another as we are. In the end it doesn’t matter who’s right, it just matters that you fix your issues. So are they head over heels???

To finish up our Valentine’s Day theme we looked at 2 sets of idioms – one using heart and another using love.
