Oops! I Just Spilled My Coffee!

Hi Everyone,

Are you someone who wakes up early or are you someone who stays up late? As a class we are early birds! We discussed what type of person would be an early bird and a night owl. And then moved on to yesterday’s topic – waking up on the wrong side of the bed. This is an idiom which means that you wake up in a bad mood and that you are going to have lots of unlucky or wrong things happen. This image shows this guy waking up and about to step off that cliff – he is waking up on the wrong side of the bed…..

We all have these kinds of days and sometimes it’s hard to improve the rest of the day. We talked about some simple daily activities we do after we wake up and then described what might happen to these activities if we woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Some of your ideas were – there is no hot water in the shower; there is no heat in the apartment; there is no coffee; you spill the coffee on yourself; you can’t find your keys; you lock the keys inside after you shut the door; your backpack is still all wet from the rain yesterday; and several other examples of a bad start to the day. Then we watched this 1 minute video about a guy who woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Watch it and see what happens in the end!

[Unfortunately, we had to end class yesterday at 11:00 because the room was needed for another event.]

Words of the day

**Here is a list of interjections that includes oops, ouch, and lots of others**
